Beelzebubs Burn Dawgs

Tempe, Arizona. Controlling both sides of the ball, Arizona State torched the Huskies for 53 points while limiting them to 24, the mismatch played on a warm evening in the desert.

“I have to do a better job as a coach to get our guys motivated and positive and playing with great energy. In our conference, every week it’s a new challenge. We had a couple tough losses the last two weeks, and we just didn’t bring the same energy and physicality and execution that we had in the previous two weeks,” coach Steve Sarkisian was quoted as saying. "That was embarrassing. That was embarrassing. We weren’t good enough. We weren’t well-enough coached. We didn’t perform well enough. And we weren’t nearly physical enough."

Upcoming home games against Cal and Colorado look winnable, while the Huskies, most likely, will lose to UCLA and OSU on the road. Played in Husky Stadium, the Apple Cup is up for grabs.

The Dawgs led 7-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Now for the bad news:

-- Arizona State scored 29 unanswered points to lead 29-7 at the intermission.

-- It was Washington's (4-3, 1-3 Pac-12) eighth straight loss to ASU.

--- The Huskies have has lost three games in a row, but were underdogs in each of  them.

-- The Dawgs had -5 yards rushing on 25 carries, Bishop Sankey gaining 22 yards on 13 rushes.

-- UW quarterbacks were sacked 7 times for 55 yards.

-- ASU won time of possession, 38:40 to 21:20.

-- ASU outgained UW 585 yards to 212.

UW Oline efficiency = 102.07 + -.2*50 - 5 = 87.07

SU Oline efficiency = 127.06 + 6.2*50 - 15 = 422.06

PEO = pass-efficiency offense; YPC = yards per carry; x = normalizing number; OLPY = offensive line penalty yards
