Officer Lee Groinman; California Dreamin’…

Now much has changed in the past two weeks, I got myself all thawed out and the Harley all cleaned up after that Boise State trip, Boise State, it was a could-have-been, might-have-been weekend in Boise…But it had to be done…

I’d love to do another home and home series with Boise State, but only if my buddy Tail Gater would invite me to his tailgate party…I can hear it now…”Lee!! Get you Harley off my lawn!! Oh crapes, Lee, there are women and children about!!”

Some folks say I should act more my age, especially when crossing state lines...

But these are confusing times, and I’ve been 39 and holding for some time now…but I’m with a brand new bike now…

A brand new bike does things for a man…maybe a testosterone boost…

“Mister? Is that your son’s bike??”

So I head on over on that Harley for the Sacramento State game. Nice, nice win, a shutout…

So I head on over on that Harley for the Utah State game. Great weather, nice win.

The beauty, of that Utah State game?? The 2 pm start…11 am starts are not just immoral, they are borderline illegal…

A 2 pm. start allows more time for trouble and hooliganism....

I find myself in Tacoma, my old home town, and on my Harley, a beautiful morning. A 2 pm start, time for a coffee. There it is, in old town Tacoma, “Tea Town’s Coffee Shack”, I think it was around Proctor and Pine streets, somewhere around 30th, or maybe 56th Ave….Maybe it was a foggy morning…I dunno. But I remember feelin’ like a record setting day was at hand…I stop and order a coffee…

A tattooed young lady, dressed in a floppy tie-dyed sack appears at the counter, coming in from the back room….”Whatcha’ want Bub?” My new name appears to be “Bub’... and why does she sound like Barney Rubble??

“Just a coffee, black, no cream ma’am”.

“That’ll be 108 dollars Bub…”

Now I’ve heard that Tacoma prices are approaching Seattle’s, but that one got my attention…

“Oh sorry Bub, there must be some mistake.” She says as she’s scratching her arm pit…”Oh yeah, 98 bucks. Sorry Bub…”

Must have been my frequent customer card…

A record setting day seems to be comin’ up? Or maybe something else??

So I ride into Seattle, I got there early, heading to the Mountlake Tavern, or the ‘Traveler’ as they now call it… Home of my old buddy Dick Baird…

Speakin’ of the Mount Lake area and Seattle prices….

If I lived in that Mount Lake area, I’d be livin’ the dream…a twenty minute walk, all of it downhill into Husky Stadium…That 11 am start against Sac State, I don’t they noticed, this 2 pm game against Utah State might have gotten them to stir a bit…

I smelt coffee in the air…Seattle coffee….at Tacoma prices??

A chamber of Commerce day, a work-man like performance by the Dawg’s, and now the dawgs are now undefeated… well, outside of Boise Idaho…

But there is more to the story than this folks, much more. In the past two weeks we’ve witnessed the birth of a new era, and I’ve seen a few ‘era’s’ to know what I’m talking about…

Soon, maybe as soon as this Saturday, teams are going have to defend Jake Browning, meaning to defend his passing arm, the ‘Make Jake beat us” template will soon be tossed, probably at halftime vs. Cal.

Now there’s been some talk of a Jake Browning nick name. I have a ‘Browning’ 9mm Double-Action pistol, a ‘Double-Action’ semi-automatic….”Jake ‘Double-Action’ Browning?” He will run for more than two first downs against Cal....I Like “Jake ‘Double-Action’ Browning’….vote now…

Yup, in the past two weeks we’ve seen some things…

A record setting day last Saturday? No, but something more important…the feeling.

In the recent past Husky teams have not improved, they have stayed stagnant, what you saw last year is what you’ll get this year. We have now, repeat now, broken that mold…

I was hoping to see Jeff Lindquist win the starting job, still stoked to see him in the plans, but now I see the reasoning why…Jake ‘ Double-Action’ Browning. We are watching a star starting to shine, Jake and Myles Gaskins, a pair of developing meteors…And we get to see it, you get to see it, live if you buy a ticket…

But I gotta tell ya’ this; it’s the defense that stirs this drink…

Watchin’ Azeem Victor and Keishawn Bierria sends me back into the past, maybe a time-machine on the field…These two remind me of two warriors from the past…Dave Hoffman and Jimmy Clifford from back in the Championship years, ’88-92’. Nobody ran on those two….Not sure if Azeem and Keishawn will ever match the Dave and Jim’s stats, or their stand-up comic routine, but does it matter?

You got the chance to find out, and find out live…

I haven’t been this excited for a Husky football game in years…and tickets are still available…what an opportunity...

This year’s Husky season is gonna be a wild ride, just hang on, and…

BE THERE!!

Yup, I’m excited as hell to see the seventh straight victory against the Cal Bear, I don’t care who they got at QB, just adds to the voltage….

Gotta tell ya’ this… I’m so dang amped up…I bought a new hat…

GO DAWGS!!
